The Fifth Element = Redemption!

We live in a pretty amazing world. I’m a guy who likes to get outdoors and into nature. One day I want to go to the Maldives, Philippines, Italy, Peru,… the list is pretty long. I enjoy learning about the our world’s history as well. And people, I love learning more and more about the lives other people have lived. Its all so exciting. It would take a thousand years to really get close to what I want to do. And if the Bible description of the millennial kingdom is literal, I just might get the chance. Of course, I am not so naïve that I don’t see the sin, problems, and heartache in our world. I do. We need redemption on every level- heart, environment, relationships. And its coming! Jesus reminded his friends that His sacrificial death (pouring out) was a covenantal promise He would one day return and redeem it all. In the Seder (Passover) feast four cups of wine are drunk. But the fifth is not. A fifth cup is reserved for the prophet Elijah in hopes he will visit during the celebration; representing future redemption, it is left unconsumed.

And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, which is being given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”  And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood. Luke 22:19-20 NASB

What am I anticipating in future redemption? How has God begun the redeeming process in my life already?

God, as this day begins- again a Sunday has come with people all over gathering in person and online to turn our hearts to You. Would you meet us as we do. Thank you that future redemption is promised and assured.
