I heard about certain goats that ‘freeze’ or fall over stiff as a board when they are suddenly surprised or scared. I believe they are called myotonic. I think as people we might be the same when consumed with fear. But, when we place our life situations before God, seek His wisdom, and allow His power to be applied, we can move forward. We won’t always face the enemies of today. (Lol, there will be new ones) The truth is, the enemies we face today, we may never see again. So, let’s move forward today in faith and a humble confidence in God. That’s what Moses told the people of God in his day.
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:12-14 NIV
God, what am I fearing today? How can I entrust myself and the situation to You? What part is mine? Yours?
God, as this day begins- I acknowledge that there are enemies of the gospel and of me as well. May I graciously interact with those who hate You, extending truth and grace. But, in humble courage I determine to never back down from upholding Your Name, Your will, and Your ways. I know the enemies I face I may never see again. For that reason, I will impart the gospel, but stand strong for the truth.
