The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:7-9
Its funny how we can do amazing things when we feel like we are nearing the end… the end of a sports event, the end of adventure, or the end of our lives. Peter says we should live like the end is near. And in doing so, what amazing character qualities will emerge? A soberness of mind leading to a prayerful life. Our love for one another will deepen as hospitality grows and grumbling ceases. And finally, we would each use our spiritual gifts to serve one another. Now, that’s pretty great way to live.
Do I live each day as if its my last? Alot of times it crosses my mind. I love that book 30 days to live. What a great reminder that we well have all eternity to celebrate the victories we win in Christ, but one fleeting moment in which to win them.
God, I want to live today as if the end is near. It may be for me. Please cover my sins by the blood of Christ and accompany me on the way today. May I reach out with all the love and giftedness You have bestowed upon me. God use me to encourage someone toward salvation today.
