First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 2 Timothy 1:1-2
People who are serving our city could use our prayers. And we benefit when they are leading with wisdom from God, compassion and restraint. Paul reminded Timothy that one benefit is that we all can live tranquil and quiet lives (uninterrupted by the government) expressing our faith.
Its so nice to live in a city that has grown large, but maintains a ‘small town’, friendly feel. Imagine how amazing Corona will be as our elected and appointed leaders operate with even more grace, intellect, wisdom, creativity, courage, love, joy, and patience… as they create support the recreational, travel, safety, and utility needs of the citizenry? So let’s pray for them regularly.
Who could I pray for today that is in authority?
God, as this day begins, our honorable Congressman Ken Calvert comes to mind. Work in his mind and heart today, imparting the energy and insight to advocate for Corona as he participates on our behalf on the national and international stage. Lord Jesus, work within Sabrina Cervantes’ life- meet her deepest needs and use her efforts and compassion to bring good things into the lives of Corona residents. And God, for each Corona City Councilmember- would you protect their families, give them joy as they serve, encouragement as well as wisdom (especially with budget allocation). Bless Wes Speake, Jim Steiner, Mayor Jason Scott, Jacque Casillas, Yolanda Carillo. Bless them as they make decisions essential to the future of Corona.
And lastly God, would you help us (through our department heads and employees) solve any problems and address any threats to the well-being of every citizen- homelessness, veterans services, housing costs, transportation, public retirees pensions, etc. For You, O Lord have the answers to every problem and way to address all opportunities. God bless the City of Corona.
