All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12-13
There is liberty and freedom in Christ. If I am controlled by the Spirit of God, is there really anything He would lead me to that is “unlawful”. No. But not everything builds up, edifies myself and others, or leads to advantage and spiritual profit. So, purposefully and prayerfully, I limit my involvement in any area that could emerge as a stumbling block or end up mastering me. These would be things like the use of alcohol, smoking, gambling and gaming.
As I examine my life, how free do I feel? Is this life in Christ filled with a sense of liberty? Or do I feel boxed in by rules and laws? I personally feel soooo free. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about what I can’t do. There is so much out there to do!
God, I realize it is for freedom that Christ Jesus has set us free, and I am experiencing it. Thank you. As I begin this day, Oh I wonder what You have planned. May I not miss the way You will bless me, and may I see who You want me to love in Your name.
