Spiritual Seasons Of Life

All of us are at different stages in our spiritual journey and knowledge (personal experience) with God. Certain themes emerge in these seasons. For instance, when I first responded to the gospel and was “saved”, I was so excited that I was forgiven by God, had a new purpose in life, and hope for the future. God was sifting my life for the big obvious sins and changing my perspective daily. I had come to know God as my heavenly Father. In the next season, I was engaged in battling the enemy of my soul. I was growing in my faith, serving God, and gaining spiritual strength. In this season, I am a father in the faith (in some small ways). I have known the Him for many years (42+). I have the great privilege of helping others take steps of spiritual growth. I can look back with great appreciation that God, in His marvelous grace, included me in His redemptive plan and forever family. What wonderful seasons there are in Christ! Each on special. May we all recognize our season and be fully engaged in the God’s calling upon our lives.

I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you on account of His name. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.  I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 1 John 2:12-14 NASB

What season am I currently in? How gracefully have I transitioned into the various seasons God has appointed? In what ways am I fulfilling my ministry? Is there anything I am missing?

God, as this day begins, I pause to pray for my friend Joleen and her health. Sustain her in every way please, by Your mercy and affectionate love. Help the doctors understand what ails her. May she be released and at home today. Assuage any fear in her family. As I think about what must be accomplished today… the promises to fulfill, the needs that require a response… guide me Holy Spirit and empower me, give me wisdom beyond my own, and friends to be alongside. Thank you for this season of life and spiritual growth.
