Now this is the inscription that was written out: ‘MENĒ, MENĒ, TEKĒL, UPHARSIN.’ This is the interpretation of the message: ‘MENĒ’—God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it. ‘TEKĒL’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. ‘PERĒS’—your kingdom has been divided and given over to the Medes and Persians. Daniel 5:25-28
Anyone can get derailed from God’s plan by pride. Unless we mature in our faith and move toward humility, we will be a spiritual lightweight. Belshazzar was weighed in the balance and found lacking. God removed him from power and authority. He had pridefully mocked God by using the holy instruments for temple worship to drink and party and give homage to idols. May this never happen to us.
How is God maturing me in my faith? How am I pursuing holiness and peace with Him?
Lord, as this day begins, please continue to be near and to direct my day. Use me to build other’s up in their faith. I want to be a spiritual heavyweight, not a lightweight.
