Sinless or Sin Less?

sinlessThe reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. 1 John 3:8-10

The Bible says believers become children of God. While we are not necessarily “sinless”, we absolutely do “sin less”. One of the biggest changes in our lives is that God strains our life for sin, removing the practices and habits and thinking that are contrary to Him and His Word. Love begins to reign in our lives. Children of the devil remain consumed with themselves and have a propensity toward hate. While this is strong language, it is an accurate description of the human condition and the cosmic battle. After all the reason Jesus came was to destroy the power and work of the devil in our lives.

Whose child am I? Does my life reflect the fact that I have put my faith and trust in Jesus? Is love the dominant expression of my life or does hate rule in my heart?

God, You have put a great love in my heart. I am adopted into Your family. When I pray and call you my heavenly Father its a true relationship. Oh I grieve that my life is not “sinless”. Thank you that by the power of Your Holy Spirit I do “sin less”.
