When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.” But he hesitated. So the men seized his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, for the compassion of the Lord was upon him; and they brought him out, and put him outside the city. When they had brought them outside, one said, “Escape for your life! Genesis 19:15-17
The rescue of Lot, his wife and two daughters was a compassionate expression of God’s love and His promise to Abraham. God honors His word and often the desires of those who are intimate with Him, as Abraham was. Abraham knew God was planning to judge Sodom and Gomorroh. He asked God to save rigteous Lot, his relative.
I want all my relatives to be saved. By “saved”, I mean that they would come into a relationship with God that begins with the recognition that Jesus death on the cross paid the penalty for our sins. And day by day, through prayer, allow God to direct their lives as the maximum authority in their lives.
God, You really are compassionate. Draw each of my relatives into this wonderful relationship. Give them the hope of heaven and the abiding presence of Your Spirit in their lives today.
