Since many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, it seemed fitting to me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in an orderly sequence, most excellent Theophilus; so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught. As we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am contemplating the first coming of our Savior, Jesus the Christ. The story has endured for generations, withstanding the strictest scrutiny of critics and has become the basis of hope for the world.
I think many will look upon the last 10 years as the death of journalism and the emergence of fake news. In the first century, a meticulous doctor named Luke decided that the events of his day were so profound, he wanted to create an orderly account that stood out from the other incomplete (and perhaps unfounded) accounts. So, he interviewed eyewitnesses. Thank God he did. What we have in his gospel is a reliable record of Jesus’ life, ministry, death and resurrection.
How much trust do I place in the story of Jesus? Can others see evidence of my faith in Him?
God, as this day begins- I pray You will use my life as a testimony that those events of the first century when Jesus walked upon the earth are real. May I share the good and real news with many. Open hearts and minds to the truth.
