In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” 2 Kings 20:1
Hezekiah prayed and God granted him an additional 15 years of life. And during those years he protected him and his city from Assyria’s attacks. God can extend life. But the bigger story is that God and Hezekiah were friends. God’s heart appears to be moved by Hezekiah’s request. Amazing.
How is my friendship with God? Is it being built on daily interaction, mutual trust, and faithfulness? Little by little.
God, You have been available, trustworthy and faithful to me. May I be that to You. I call you my friend. I pray that You will call me the same.
