Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips. Psalm 27:2
Some animals fluff their fur, or puff themselves up when they are frightened or confronted. People do it too. There are few things as unattractive as a bragger. The Bible says that I should avoid praising myself, trying to show off, and making myself acceptable. Its better when someone else points out what is praiseworthy in my life.
Am I resisting the temptation to make myself out to be better than I am? Where do I really get my security and affirmation?
God, I know you love me and like me. Oh, that’s what matters so much. Help me draw my sense of acceptance from You, so I don’t have to puff myself up before others.
