When our soul prospers all else matters little in comparison. This is where joy in life originates. So, John the beloved apostle writes to his friend Gaius and blesses him by reminding him that ‘as your soul’ prospers, may you prosper in every way.
How is my soul prospering right now? Am I close to God? Am I growing in my affection, fervor, holiness, etc.? Yes, I am prospering in my soul!
God, even as I desire to prosper in my soul, would you cause me to prosper in every other area of life. Not necessarily for my comfort, but for Your name sake.
