The Bible says that a person who preaches the Word is entitled to receive their living from doing so. This creates a mutual dependency between the pastor and congregation. Paul, ironically, advocated for this privilege, but never took it himself.
What is my ethic in this area? Ultimately, I would love to be like Rick Warren, the pastor whose successful book allowed him to pay his church back every dollar he ever earned as their pastor. Amazing!
Lord Jesus, You are amazing the way you designed Your church. And what a privilege at this season of life to serve and be paid as a pastor. Wow!
