Past, Present, Future

But He said to him, “A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ But they all alike began to make excuses… ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner.’” Luke 14:16-24

In the parable Jesus told, the excuses people made for not coming to the wedding banquet were threefold. One was concerned about land he just bought = the future, another about his present, and the last about his past. How often our past, present and future prevent us from coming to Him, for the first time and every day. The result was that none of them tasted of his dinner. The Bible says ‘taste and see that the Lord is good’! Oh how they missed out!

How about me? Is there anything in my past, present or future preventing me from coming to Him?

Lord, I don’t want to miss out. I am starting this day with You because I have tasted and seen that You are good. Work mightily in me and through me as I minister and enjoy this life. And thank you for blessing my daughter last night with such a great group of friends and a wonderful birthday party.
