The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:23-25
Jesus is our high priest. He is unique in this role, because He lived a sinless life. And he rose from the dead, to live evermore. Therefore, He can make intercession forever on my behalf. But, it is incumbent upon me to draw near to God through Him.
How often during a given day, am I drawing near to Him? Do I revere Jesus as my high priest?
Lord Jesus, I come to You this morning asking You to forgive and cleanse me from all sin. Make me ready for a day of life and love and eternal purpose. Go before me with power and provision. I thank You that You are my high priest.
