Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you;
And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” Genesis 12:1-3 NASB
I have often heard sayings like “one good man can change the world”… or make the ultimate difference”. It certainly is true with Abram. God introduced His salvation strategy at this moment in history. He would set aside one man and one nation to model what God requires (faith) and what God wants to do (bless). Through Abram, Jesus would come many generations later. He (Jesus) is the ultimate blessing, for in Him, the sins of mankind were atoned. What an interesting strategy. At times it was like a think scarlet thread of redemption with literally one man holding it all together. But, God, as the master weaver, has now included us in the tapestry. Perhaps we are that “one good man” who can make a difference in our time!
How do I fit in God’s redemptive plan? Have I accepted the salvation provided? Am I busy reconciling the world to Christ?
God, as this day begins- Its Father’s Day. I thank you for my dad. I am so grateful for his example, care, love and attention over the years. I am blessed. May I too be a refection of my heavenly Father to my children and others around me.
