God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.” Numbers 22:12
Balaam was messing around with the king of Balak. In the end, he spoke the words of God and remained faithful to God’s people. But, along the way, he got a little too close to Balak. Balaam’s donkey had to speak to him, to get his attention. This of course, was not the first or last time a donkey would speak in history. Christians are ‘in the world’, but ‘not, of the world’. We walk a fine line of reaching out to people God wants to save, but must remain holy as we follow Jesus.
How effective am I at hearing God, speaking His words, and remaining un-spotted from the world, while being involved in His great salvific work? I feel like I am evangelistic, yet true to Him.
God, if there are any ways you would want me to change, give me an donkey like Balaam’s and speak to me.
