Not Even A Smidgen

smidgenThen this Daniel began distinguishing himself among the commissioners and satraps because he possessed an extraordinary spirit, and the king planned to appoint him over the entire kingdom. Then the commissioners and satraps began trying to find a ground of accusation against Daniel in regard to government affairs; but they could find no ground of accusation or evidence of corruption, inasmuch as he was faithful, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him. Then these men said, “We will not find any ground of accusation against this Daniel unless we find it against him with regard to the law of his God.” Daniel 6:3-5

How amazing that in his leadership, not only did Daniel serve with distinction, he was also above the reproach of his jealous detractors. Recently a government official claimed that our IRS had no corruption, not even a smidgen. That was simply and sadly untrue. The old adage ‘power corrupts’ is all too true. Yet, Daniel was faithful, without negligence, or corruption.

Can this be said of me? What areas of my life would enemies be able to cite as less than Christlike.

Lord Jesus, You are my example in all things. Thank you for people like Daniel who lead well and make a difference in the world with integrity. Help me grow in these qualities. Thank you that we do this together.
