No Greater Curse

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.  The Lord smelled the soothing aroma; and the Lord said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.

“While the earth remains, seed time and harvest,
And cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night
Shall not cease.” Genesis 8:20-22 NASB

As amazing as nature is… it has been subjected to futility under an abiding curse. That curse is that man will toil the land, but the full productivity of what could be, will not be ours. But, in His grace, God promised to Noah and all mankind, no greater curse will be imposed and He will never again flood the earth. God has given us all that we need for life and to live it in a godly way. He has made a way of redemption for everything, in Christ. Today, I am going to rejoice because of what is, what remains, and what is to come.

How do I respond when things in our fallen world go against me and my plans? Do I acknowledge the impact of sin and seek God’s redemption in all things?

God, as this day begins- I thank you for Your redeeming love and eternal power. May those be on display in my life today. Help me reach out and love others in Your name. Amen.
