I don’t like asking other people for help. Maybe its a bit of pride. I am kind of a DIY guy (Do It Yourself). There are some things in life we must do for ourselves. Right? Listen to music, hold the hand of your spouse as you walk along, enjoy the taste of food, for instance. But, the one thing we cannot do for ourselves is live up to the expectations of God’s holy law. In that endeavor we will fail and be condemned. But, Jesus came to earth and lived a life perfectly pleasing to God. He fulfilled God’s holy law and in doing so, condemned sin! Those who put their faith and trust in Him will now live according to a new law, that of the Spirit. When we do, we are not condemned, but rather forgiven, and accepted. Amazing!
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4 NASB
Have I realized that I cannot measure up to God’s holy law? Am I willing to let Jesus life, death and resurrection be the substitute for me?
God, as this day continues- thank you for the freedom found in living by the Spirit. How wonderful to be under no condemnation. May I share the joy that accompanies this life with all I meet.
