Never Forsaken

My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?
Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.
O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer;
And by night, but I have no rest.
Yet You are holy,
O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
In You our fathers trusted;
They trusted and You delivered them.
To You they cried out and were delivered;
In You they trusted and were not disappointed. Psalm 22:1-5

King David wrote as prophetic song that depicted Jesus’ suffering upon the cross. As the sin of the world was placed upon Him, He felt abandoned and separated from God, the Father in a way He had never experienced. Even when we feel separated from God by sin, God is still upon the throne, worthy of praise, and holy. If we remember that, we will not be disappointed.

Do I believe His promise that “He will never leave me or forsake me”?

God, I am so glad you are faithful, even when I am faithless. I pray that today, I can encourage others and teach Your Word in a way that inspires and prepares people for the week ahead. Please bless my brother and his wife on their anniversary day. Thank you for the family you’ve given me.
