My People

Ever hear someone say “God loves everyone the same”? Sure, I have. But, there is a group of people who ‘belong’ to Him. They are His “peeps” (People). They are those who have made a conscious decision to embrace the Savior, Jesus. God deals differently with “His” people. He hears their prayers and they hear His voice. He graciously imparts wisdom from above. He leads and guides and comforts as well. He protects them at times from disaster. And at the end of this life, He prepares a place for them in the next. How good it is to be one of His people. Moses saw God make a distinction when the plague of the gnats and flies fell upon Egypt. But, this too did not get Pharaoh to repent of his stubborn hard heart. Such is the way in the world today.

But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land. I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign will occur tomorrow.’ Exodus 8:22-23 NASB

How and when did I realize I could belong to God and He to me? What benefits am I enjoying as His child adopted into His forever family? Who do I know that I could invite into this relationship?

God, as this day begins- I am grateful for another day of life and love. I pray the rain will not hold anyone back from participating in LaVerne’s memorial service. We have such well fit tributes planned. Would you grace us with a break in the weather at 10 till 2? I pause to pray for my wonderful JMH asking You to affirm her in her God-given identity and worth beyond measure. Thank you for all the dads and daughters last night who enjoyed their Diamonds and Denim ‘daddy daughter date’ at Crossroads School.
