Move To The Safest Place

So Israel set out with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.  God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.”  He said, “I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you a great nation there.  I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will close your eyes.”

Then Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob and their little ones and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.  They took their livestock and their property, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and came to Egypt, Jacob and all his descendants with him: his sons and his grandsons with him, his daughters and his granddaughters, and all his descendants he brought with him to Egypt. Genesis 46:1-7 NASB

My wife and I have moved our family to follow what we believe was God’s call for ministry. Its no small thing to do so with young children. There are certainly blessings that God affords along the way. God gave Jacob (Israel) a dream to reassure him that he would not be going to Egypt alone. God would be there with him and one day return him to the promised land. In obedience, Jacob put the grand kids in the wagon, then climbed aboard himself. As scary as it is to move somewhere new, the safest place to be is the center of God’s will. For it is there, in His will, that we discover His presence and we hear His voice, even as Jacob did in a dream. Perhaps we all need to be a little more willing to ‘move’!

Can I see God’s provision and protection in the times I have moved for the sake of His kingdom? What moves does He have planned for me next?

God, as this day begins- I love the saying ‘where God leads, He provides’. I have found that true. There are many people to minister to and with today. Please move me by the power of Your Spirit, give me wisdom in choosing right words, and an overflow of Your love for each I meet and speak with today. Please give me eyes to see the needs of others. I am ready to move through this day.
