mi amigo fielDavid said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show kindness to you for the sake of your father Jonathan, and will restore to you all the land of your grandfather Saul; and you shall eat at my table regularly.” Again he prostrated himself and said, “What is your servant, that you should regard a dead dog like me?” 2 Samuel 9:7

My faithful friend… that’s what Mi Amigo Fiel means. Its a term of intimacy and friendship. David and Jonathan could say that to each other. Good people remember their commitments and keep them, even the seemingly insignificant ones. That’s what happened to David. He remembered that he promised to be kind to Jonathan’s descendants, so he sought out Mephibosheth. David provided for this crippled young man and his family in extravagant ways and treated him as his own son. What a fitting thing to do for his faithful friend Jonathan who had spared David’s life and been used by God to encourage him.

How about me? Are there any commitments that I have not fulfilled? Any kindness waiting to be expressed?

God, this is your heart. You show extravagant love in fulfillment of Your promises. I am so glad you have. I am saved because of Your character and faithfulness.
