Making A Way For The Poor

offerings of the poorBut if he is poor and his means are insufficient, then he is to take one male lamb for a guilt offering as a wave offering to make atonement for him, and one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and a log of oil, and two turtledoves or two young pigeons which are within his means, the one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering. Leviticus 14:21-22

In the prescription for declaring the leper, clean, God made it possible for the poor to complete the offering by giving them a less costly option. God is so good about including the poor. It could be said that He has a special place in His heart for the poor. The poor were not exempted from the process or price, but given an opportunity based on their ability to participate in God’s program.

Do I share God’s desire to include the poor? Are there opportunities that I need to create everyone to participate in God’s programs?

Lord, what a reminder that You desire for all of us to be “clean” before You. Ultimately, You made it possible by Jesus’ redeeming work on the cross. Today, I pray that as I rest and do household chores, I will sense You are with me. Speak to me and prepare me for the week ahead.
