Love Fades

Love fades. It needs to be fanned to a flame occasionally. The love of God poured out upon the Jewish people had faded in their hearts and their devotion to Him faded with it. So the old command ‘love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself’… had faded by the first century. So, Jesus shows up and brilliantly demonstrates what God’s love is like. Its like a brand new command arose… but really it was the old one, packaged in the Son of God. I can always look to Him and rekindle the love of God in my heart and the love that will overflow to others.

On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.  The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:9-11 NASB

How can I let God love me today? Who can I love in Him name?

God, as this day begins- I want to let You love me and love others through me. Show me in Jesus how to do just that. Fan the love in me to a flame that burns brightly for You and Your name sake.
