The words of the Lord are pure words;
As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.
You, O Lord, will keep them;
You will preserve him from this generation forever. Psalms 12:6-7
Loose lips, sink ships was a mantra during World War II, that warned people about sharing secrets with enemies. Our words often get us in trouble. We say things that shouldn’t be said or we boast about things we cannot actually do.
God’s word is as good as gold (or silver in this case). It can be trusted.
Unlike the boastful words of man, God keeps His promises. And I am so glad He does.
Do I boast of things I cannot control or deliver on? I must be careful. I should be like the one who says “If the Lord wills…”
God, I want to live by Your Word and not my own. So, help me see Your will in scripture and through prayer. Guard my lips and help me speak as the oracle of God.
