We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. Colossians 1:9-12
What should we pray when we pray for our friends, family and co-workers? How about this amazing prayer. Paul asked that God would fill them with the knowledge of His will (which comes by His Spirit), wanting them to have a life worthy of the Lord. What would that life look like? Its a life that bears fruit = every good work. Its a life that reflects a growing knowledge of God, power, endurance, patience, joyful thanksgiving. This is the kingdom of light!
How much time do I spend praying for my own superficial needs as opposed to the eternal needs of others?
God, oh I want this for me and all who I serve alongside.
