Live Your Calling

live callingFor we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.
But we will not boast beyond our measure, but within the measure of the sphere which God apportioned to us as a measure, to reach even as far as you.
For we are not overextending ourselves, as if we did not reach to you, for we were the first to come even as far as you in the gospel of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:12-14

Why are so many round pegs in square holes? How come people live most their lives doing something they don’t enjoy? We should avoid living by comparisons and focus more on God’s standards and fulfilling His calling for our lives. There was general disdain for Paul that had grown in the Corinthian church and they had forgotten his apostolic authority. God had originally sent the apostle Paul and his team to share the gospel in Asia minor, Greece, and various parts of Southern Europe. The church in Corinth was one of the recipients of the glorious gospel. Paul says, ‘hey, I am simply trying to fulfill God’s call on my life. I am not trying to compare myself to anyone there in Corinth.’

Have I discerned God’s calling on my life? Am I measuring myself by how well I have fulfilled that ministry… or am I comparing myself to someone else and their calling?

God, the calling I believe You have on my life is well-fit and grand. Its challenging, fruit-bearing, fun, exciting, and producing eternal results. Help me today be faithful in staying within that wheelhouse and not ‘overextending’. Thank you that I can do all this in Your power for Your glory.
