Christmas is a season of lights. We have lights on houses (mine look pretty good this year, although my wife says one strand is ‘drooping’), we have lights on trees, all kinds of lights. Why? Its to remind us of the Great Light that came into the world. 2000 years ago Jesus stood in the temple courtyard and proclaimed “I am the light of the world”. And indeed He is! But he went on to tell us (his followers), you are ‘little lights’ that should let our light shine before men who see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. Let’s do that together. This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5 NASB
Is my life consistent with the light that I have been exposed to? Is there any darkness or unconfessed sin?
God, as this day begins- its an opportunity to shine with the light of life and love that Jesus has imparted to me. May I see the opportunities to do good and faithfully represent You. May this be the best Christmas ever for me, my loved ones, and all in my circle of influence as we seek to glorify You in all we do.
