Let’s Be Careful Out There

“Do it to them, before they do it to you”! That was the final instructions given by Sergeant Stan Jablonski on the TV show Hill Street Blues to his police force after their daily briefing. When Sgt. Phil Esterhaus does the cop roll call, he would conclude with his signature line: “Let’s be careful out there.” In either case, we all need reminders about what we will face each day. At the end of his letter to the church in Corinth, the apostle Paul gives a similar mantra that can serve us well too. He reminds of dangers, the power of our faith, the need for courage and strength and above all LOVE.

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NLT

How prepared am I spiritually to face the day ahead? Am I guarded by wisdom and guided by love?

God, as this day begins- I thank You again for my life in Christ and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. Please protect me and my loved ones. I commit to stand firm in the faith. May You find me courageous and strong and overflowing with love for all I meet. Now, let’s go take on the day! (thank you Dr. Laura for that mantra)
