Let Freedom Ring!

Tomorrow I will be preaching a message called “Let Freedom Ring” from Galatians 5:1. Its a tribute to our country and at the same time a reminder of the citizenship we hold in heaven and the blessings of freedom found in Christ. At the center of the message is a call to live in the ‘sweet spot of grace’ that God affords. For it is there, and really there alone that we find true freedom. To the right of that place is the pitfall and trap of legalism (born out attempts of keeping the law). To the left is the pitfall of licentiousness. But, here… in the middle I find grace and an invitation to come boldly to the throne of grace. I find a friendship and relationship with my living Savior. Oh thank God, He (Jesus) has freed us from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and one day,… the presence of sin! How did I get here? I had to die to my old self, old ways, and be born again. How about you?

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” Galatians 2:20-21 NASB

How free do I feel? Is there anything holding me back from coming close to God, walking in the Spirit, and pleasing God today?

God, as this day begins- its special. It is sad too. I am going to be with so many who hurt over the loss of Urmila Patel. Its hard when I lead families through memorial services and their loved one is also my loved on. That’s today. Oh, I hurt for Lila, that faithful best friend, the kids Mita and Ajay, the niece… and husband. Be very real and close to them today. On, another note- I thank you for this country. I confess the nationals sins we hold to, and ask forbearance. Please have Your guiding hand upon us. Take not thy Holy Spirit from me (us). Let freedom ring!
