Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.
Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.
But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:10-14
I watch Fox News, perhaps a little too much. Jesus said one of the signs that would mark His return and end of the age would be an increase in lawlessness. The word in Greek is ‘anomia’ which means contempt and violation of the law, wickedness and iniquity. I have watched the increase in lawlessness in my lifetime to such a staggering degree I find myself asking ‘could it get any worse’? It will! Whether its the ‘occupy Wall St.’ movement or our own government failing to enforce law, selectively enforcing and disregarding law, or ultimately persecution of Christians… it will sadly continue if this is the end. Yet, the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world. And that is my first priority!
Do I obey the laws of the land? Will I stand for Christ when the laws turn against Christ?
Thank You Lord that You told us what is to come. While persecution will be the most difficult experience in life, I know You suffered for me. I pray for Your sanctifying influence in our nation and the world. May every Christian do what is right, obey laws and set a godly example in their place of influence. It is evident to me that when man is in charge – lawlessness and anarchy are the norm. When You are in charge of the human heart, peace and love reign.
