As for you, if you will walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you and will keep My statutes and My ordinances, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, just as I promised to your father David, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’ 1 Kings 9:4-5
God appeared twice to Solomon in a very personal way. This second encounter brought the conditional promise that Solomon’s throne would be continued as long as he obediently followed after the living God and not idols and false gods. I have heard pastors say ‘God’s love is unconditional, his blessings are not’. I think that describes how God interacted with Solomon.
Am I doing all that God has commanded in His statutes and ordinances?
Lord God, as this day begins, oh I need You and Your wisdom. There is much to do today and many people to love and serve. I want Your hand of blessing upon me. Prompt me by the power of Your Spirit throughout the day to make wise choices and to see how to grow Your kingdom. I want my heart to be filled with integrity and uprightness.
