Judah’s Compromise

judahJudah said to his brothers, “What profit is it for us to kill our brother and cover up his blood? Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers listened to him. Genesis 37:26-27

Jacob, (now named Israel) settled with his twelve sons. But trouble ensued when the jealous brothers wanted to kill Joseph. Reuben tried to save him, but it was Judah that actually made the life-saving compromise. Instead of leaving him to die in a pit, Judah persuaded them to sell Joseph. Jesus Christ would trace his lineage to Judah. You could say that salvation came through Judah. Joseph is a type of Christ in many ways, but it was Judah compromise that held that scarlet thread of redemption in place.

How is God using me in His grand salvation plan? This week, I am part of a mission team of men in Mexico sharing the love of God in practical ways.

God, thank you for re-building my energy last night. As we start the day, I pray we can be effective in completing our projects and reaching out and loving people in Acuna in your name.
