I have a funny saying I share with people who are the boss at their business or are upset with the boss… “Its good to be the king”. In other words, when you are the boss, you get to make king-like decisions (someone has to, right?). But remember, with that authority comes responsibility. Earthly power and position tends to foster pride within us. That pride might deceive us into thinking we are more like God than we actually are. The Psalmist says to be careful and be wise and submit to The King and His Son who sits upon the ultimate throne.
Now therefore, O kings, show discernment;
Take warning, O judges of the earth.
Worship the Lord with reverence
And rejoice with trembling.
(“Kiss”) Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way,
For His wrath may soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! Psalm 2:10-12 NASB
How have I embraced the Son of God (Jesus) and in doing so come into a right relationship with God, the King of the Universe?
God, as this day begins- I pause to remember You are from above, I am from below. I have great need of You for You sustain my very life. I recognize my proper place. May I relate to others in a humble and proper way. And to Jesus, I offer today homage due to the Son and Savior of the World. In Him I take refuge.
