Is the Lord among us, or not?

Sometimes we can doubt whether God is still with us and supporting us as we pursue the dream we believe He gave us. I have been tempted to give up and I’ve watched many become discouraged. Maybe obstacles arise or adversaries stand in the way. Often the resources evaporate, money and supplies run low. That’s when we ask “Is the Lord among us, or not?” It is here that faith matters. We remind ourselves of what we know to be true of the God who loves us. We find renewed strength, insight, and wisdom from above. When asked if God was on the side of the North in US civil war, Abraham Lincoln answered “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.” The same thing happened to those on the Exodus from Egypt on the journey to “the promised land”.

Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. He named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the Lord, saying, “Is the Lord among us, or not?” Exodus 17:6-7 NASB

What doubts am I harboring when faith is what God desires in me? Have I sought Him with a pure heart? What reminders of His great love and power can I set my mind upon?

God, as this day begins- I am asking you afresh for movement in that constant prayer I have for my sweet niece. Reveal Yourself to her in an amazing display of love. I pause to thank You for what You’ve done these last 40 days in so many areas of life and within the church. I am excited about Easter and celebrating the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. I know Lord is among us!
