And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house— for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ But Abraham *said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’” Luke 16:27-29
In Jesus parable, the rich man found himself in hell begging that Abraham would send someone to warn his family about what was coming for them. Abraham says that God has already given them an adequate revelation of Himself through the law and prophets. It is enough!
For me, its a frightening reminder that this temporary life has eternal consequences. Lord, you have risen from the dead. How much greater responsibility I have to your revelation!
Today, I pray that I would keep in my mind what You have done for me Lord. And that I might live with eternity motivating me.
