You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5:29-40
I love reading the Bible. The Bible is awesome. But, by itself it does not bring life and salvation. That comes from a personal relationship with God made possible by accepting and responding to the sacrificial life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The Jewish leaders revered the scriptures. But, ironically, they missed the very Savior to whom the scriptures pointed… a terrible irony.
Is there anything of God that I am missing? How do the scriptures point me to Jesus?
God, I know that Your Word is holy and wonderful. Thank you that because I know You, they are more than words on a page, they point me to eternal life found in Jesus. Today, would You rise up and do battle in the spiritual realm and defeat the adversaries of my life and ministry. Bring unexplained joy and encouragement to everyone who needs it. Advocate for us, O Lord and we will give You the glory!
