Wait For It

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14

What I believe about God has a profound affect on my resiliency. Because I believe He exists and cares about me- while I experience the same trials as everyone else, I don’t despair. I remember a funny dialogue from a movie. As two people are facing a great difficulty, one person says “I have a thought, we must not despair”. The other answers- “What’s the thought?” (hoping its brilliant and helps them escape their situation). The first answers back “that was it… ‘we must not despair’!” Lol.

David recalls how God has often come to his rescue and been a strong defender. What a lesson for all of us to learn. To hope in the Lord while faithfully doing what He asks are powerful levers that move our dreams ahead.

How about me? Is there any despair remaining in my thinking right now? What faithful step is required of me? What evidence from the past can I draw to my mind of God’s goodness and lovingkindness?

God, as this day begins may I walk in Your ways. I am marveling at the amazing YES answer to prayer You gave yesterday. Somehow I feel that in our conversation along the way, You were drawing me into greater expressions of truth and faith. Thank you- I feel like I passed a small test.
