Victory In Jesus

victoryHis disciples said, Lo, now You are speaking plainly and are not using a figure of speech. Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God.
Jesus answered them,
Do you now believe?
Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16:29-33

The disciples were growing in their understanding of God’s plan and the necessary suffering of the Messiah. At this moment it became clear that Jesus both came from the Father and was returning to Him. His promise to them and us today is peace in our hearts, tribulation in the world and ultimate victory in Him. As we enter Resurrection Weekend we are reminded that Jesus conquered the grave and we will too.

What tribulation am I experiencing right now? What peace is available and real to me?

Lord Jesus, thank you for the abiding presence of Your Spirit and the peace that accompanies my heart each day. I am so grateful for the last week of joy, service, and new experiences with the high school students. Please draw many to Yourself this week as we worship. Do miracles in people’s lives as we all celebrate the resurrection and victory that is Yours and ours as well.
