In His Image, My Prayer for You in 2022

Hosted by

I have always had a sense that there is a creator and that there is purpose and meaning in life. Even before I understood the story of Jesus, the Jews, and the only living God- the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that sense of something and someone greater than the world itself was inside of me. In the book of beginnings- Genesis, Moses shares God’s perspective: People are unique amongst all of creation, because we are image bearers of God. How wonderful, how powerful, how important! When we act in ways consistent with that image, we glorify and reveal the invisible God in visible ways to each other. You see, either we see (believe in) a world with God or we believe in a world without God. If there is no God, there is no sense of wonder, power, importance that comes with the image of God. Oh the tragedy that so many live today grasping and searching for meaning and purpose. When all along, we can know our true identity in light of who Christ is- and our relationship to Him. My prayer for all in my circle of friendships is that 2022 is a year that each of us understands that we are made in God’s image, special, and with earthly and eternal purposes. May God become more real and present than ever before. As some refer to this passage of ancient scripture as the first command of the Bible- “be fruitful”!, May you be fruitful and may God multiply your efforts.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:26-28 NASB

How is the image of God, visible in me? Are the sum of my thoughts, intentions, and actions consistent with Him and His ways?

God, as this day and new year begins- Oh thank you for fresh starts! Wipe the sin and wrongdoing from the record by Your grace and the sacrificial offering of Jesus upon the cross so that I might walk with You in peace, filled with Your Spirit to bear the image of light and love! I dedicate myself to the purpose of shining for Your glory this year. I thank you for last year and the blessing that accompanied it. Now, a new one begins for me, for my precious family, and those I know.
