Imitators

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2

There really is some value in pretending. Not the pure imagination that we are something we are not. But, rather the pretending and practicing that which we are not yet perfect- namely, walking in love! Imitation is the sincerest form of compliment. When we really like someone we often find ourselves doing and saying what they do. Paul says we should be imitators of God. And why not? Believers are adopted into His family. When we imitate God we will live with love flowing into our lives and through our lives in a sacrificial manner to others. All of this is beautiful and acceptable to God- to whom it is a fragrant aroma.

In what ways can I treat others like Jesus would? How can my thoughts be God-centered today?

How amazing it would be Lord, to be called an imitator of God. Work in my mind, heart, and actions today in a way that leads me to love in such a way that a fragrance rises to heaven.
