Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2
Kids love to imitate what their parents do. I remember an anti-smoking commercial where a boy watches his dad drive, and he pretends to steer an imaginary wheel. Then his dad casts a fishing pole, his son does the same. Then, he lights a cigarette,… and the commercial ends. The Bible says that I am to imitate God in the same way a child does. Thats what Jesus did. He said of Himself, I always do the things that please the Father.
I am grateful I have Jesus as the example of what it means to imitate God.
Lord God, more and more, beginning today help me understand and imitate You, your ways and thoughts. I know they are higher. Help me reach up for them.
