I Told You So!

told you soWhen they had gone a long time without food, then Paul stood up in their midst and said, “Men, you ought to have followed my advice and not to have set sail from Crete and incurred this damage and loss. Yet now I urge you to keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. Acts 27:21-22

Sometimes (not very often) its appropriate to say “I told you so”. This was one of them. Paul had warned the Centurion in charge as well as the pilot and ship captain “Men, I perceive that the voyage will certainly be with damage and great loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.” The didn’t heed his advice. After all, he was just a prisoner (a piece of cargo) they needed to deliver to Rome or their next port of call. Their pride prevented them from hearing from an unlikely source. God was gracious and spared their lives.

Have I discovered that God can teach me what I need to know through just about anybody? How is pride and humility at work in my life right now?

God, what a joy to serve You and to know that You speak to men and through people today. I want to pray for a miracle in Rita’s life. Would you touch her and heal her and rescue her from the ICU at the hospital. Show the family a sign of Your affection and power.
