The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them. 1 Samuel 8:7
Deep down in his gut, Samuel knew that appointing a king over Israel was a bad thing. The people were responding to a season of bad judges and now wanted to be like the other nations… who had kings. All the while, they were forgetting that God said He would be their king.
How often do I look for human solutions to spiritual problems? Am I seeking You God for the dilemmas I face and the disappointments I experience? My natural tendency is to rely upon experience. But, more and more these days to I call godly friends for counsel and seek God in prayer.
Lord, there are a myriad of situations that I will encounter this day. By Your Spirit, would you guide me in each to say what You would say and to respond in a way that pleases You?!
