Every single person in the world at some point will struggle with sinful temptations… its “common to man”. At this point in my life most worldly temptations have little sway upon me. I have put idols further and further from my heart. But, early in our Christian walk we can struggle significantly until we set godly patterns. Paul described how an attitude of humility coupled with the assurance that God always provides a better way (way of escape) can let even newbie Christians endure temptation and have victory! Notice that we don’t always defeat temptation, sometimes we simply endure it.
Therefore let the one who thinks he stands watch out that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NASB
What temptations am I facing right now? How are they more subtle than ever before?
God, as this day begins- I confess I need You. Every hour I need you. Thank you that you have resolved many issues in my life by changing my heart (desires) from ungodly to godly. Do the complete work in me. I desire to be like Jesus who ‘always does the things that please the Father’. I pray for each in my family today, work within them, protect them, allow them to thrive with their God-give personality, creativity, and energy for Your glory.
