My wife is a bit more of a rule follower than I am. I’m not saying I ignore instructions or drive my car like mad max. There is safety in rule-keeping. But there is freedom and a greater glory in living a Spirit led life. Its more dynamic to be moved by the Spirit of God each day. The commandments given to the world through Moses on Mount Sinai, set God’s people apart. The revelation (beginning with the Ten Commandments) should be exalted and abided. But, the holy law of God soon revealed our inability to live up to it. We all are lawbreakers. But, forgiveness in Christ and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in us, brings a greater glory. The apostle Paul understood the comparison. He said the former was a ‘fading glory’.
But if the ministry of death, engraved in letters on stones, came with glory so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness excel in glory. 2 Corinthians 3:7-9 NASB
How am I allowing the Spirit to lead, guide and control my life? Do I surrender myself daily?
God, as this day begins- I am grateful that Your forgiveness has freed me from the penalty of my sins and to the degree I allow Your Spirit to operate in my life, You’ve freed me from the power of sin. I look forward to the day I am freed from the presence of sin. Meanwhile, I will allow You to guide my life hour by hour.
