How Do We Find Harmony?

Our world, the workplace, friendships and even within families there can be tension, anger, strife and bitter disagreement. The goal of the Christian life is to be like Jesus in word, thought and deed. How do we find harmony today? The answer is to become more like Jesus and relate to one another as the apostle Paul described in his letter to the Christians in Colossae. He said, whatever ‘station’ you are in, or role you fulfill, do it as unto the Lord and look to Jesus example and commands. He will give you the grace, wisdom and power to do it. Harmony isn’t guaranteed (because ‘it takes two to tango’), but peace of mind will certainly be yours.

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not become bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not antagonize your children, so that they will not become discouraged. Slaves, obey those who are your human masters in everything, not with eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people, knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of the inheritance. Colossians 3:18-24 NASB

God, in my roles, relationships and responsibilities, is there anything I am lacking as Your humble servant? Am I feeling entitled or excused from duty?

God, as this day begins- Oh, I thank you for the joy and harmony that accompanies so much of life in this season. Help me to continually grow and become the person You desire me to be and to model Christlikeness in every setting. Behold how good and pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together.
